Coal Creek Falls

I can’t help but think that the hiking season is coming to a close. I attempted Sandstone Falls but the trail head was closed. Three bridges were out!

I went with my friend Cathy and her 9 yr old daughter Callie. I took them to Cougar Mtn Regional Wildland Park instead, which was around the corner. We started up to Coal Creek Falls. It was about the same distance in length that was originally planned.

5 minutes into it, they said their legs were burning. 20 minutes into it, they wanted to stop and eat. 25 minutes into it, Cathy was wondering when the hill was going to even out. I explained the hill normally doesn't even out....it's a hike. She decided she could not go any longer and wanted to go back to the car.

Callie said she would like to continue...so we did for about 10 minutes. Callie then decided she wanted to go back with her mom. So....We went back down the hill and made sure they found each other. I then continued back up alone with the dog. I went as far as I could and only stopped when I finally got creeped out by hiking alone.

When I came back to my car – I found a note on my windshield. Cathy and Callie stayed and hiked on some other trail that was more their style (flat) I waited for them to make sure they found their way back without getting lost. I think they had a good time despite and found a great place to come back to. This mountain has over 35 miles of trails to explore.
